    The Womxn of Colour Durham Collective (WOCDC)

    Secured $50K+ to design, facilitate and execute a recreational exploratory pilot program geared towards racialized women, femmes and non-binary people to provide safer spaces to talk about mental health and wellbeing, explore sports and recreation, and build peer-to-peer relationships to create a strong sense of community.

  • CLIMATE ACTION PLANS

    Sustainability Solutions Group (SSG)

    Developed and implemented engagement strategies to enhance community participation in Canadian and US municipal climate and sustainability projects, including emissions reduction and adaptation strategies. Used climate modelling and data analysis, to provide targeted recommendations for managing climate risks and encouraging organizational behaviour change to assist senior leadership in decision-making.

    The Womxn of Colour Durham Collective (WOCDC)

    This project aims to challenge the narratives and barriers that BIPOC face in outdoor spaces and address environmental inequity by empowering BIPOC through building community, reducing ‘eco-anxiety’, and dissecting our relationships with land.

    Engaged and interviewed community members and leaders to discuss the impact of community-led initiatives aimed to enhance and maintain gender livelihoods, socio-ecological resilience of coastal and forested landscapes in Wakatobi, Indonesia.

    Co-hosted #SDGTALKS, a monthly live talk shows with action makers and youth to enhance awareness, discuss UN Sustainable Development Goals related topics and ideas and actions to make change within Indonesia and beyond.

  • CAMPUS ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY PROGRAMS

    University of Toronto Scarborough

    Engaged students, staff and faculty and surrounding Scarborough elementary and secondary schools with various programs and initiatives focused on increasing awareness about environmental sustainability, biodiversity, food security, gardening, consumption and more. Examples include but not limited to nature walks, food discussion cafés, workshops, and sustainability weeks.

    Developing Young Leaders of Tomorrow, Today

    An 8-month hybrid leadership program for self-identified Black girls (ages 6-16) focusing on topics like climate change, disaster preparedness, diplomacy, sports, personal development and exploration of non-traditional careers.

  • AND STILL WE RISE LEADERSHIP PROGRAM

    Durham Black Educators' Network

    A leadership program for self-identified Black and/or African decent students in the Durham District School Board. As a mentor and facilitator worked with youth to supporting positive social change in their schools and community and develop workshops for the annual And Still We Rise Secondary School Conference.

  • UTSC IC ROOFTOP GARDEN

    University of Toronto Scarborough

    Engaged students, staff and faculty about rooftop gardening through a series of educational, research, two campus-wide events and community-outreach activities. Harvested produce was donated to the Native Child and Family Services as well as the N’sheemaehn Child Care Centre.

  • COMMUNITY GARDEN PROGRAM

    Waterfront Neighbourhood Centre

    Community Garden that was a vehicle for intergenerational and youth programming and capacity-building workshops to enhance knowledge and understanding of various topics (i.e., climate change, food insecurity, composting, cooking skills mental well-being, etc.) and intercultural knowledge sharing. Harvested produce was used to support WNC programs and community.
